Vianode AS was established by Elkem early 2021 and aims to become a leading solutions provider to the fast-growing battery industry. We are now looking for a Risk Manager to advise the organization on any potential risks to the profitability, safety, security, or existence of the company
Our first full-scale industrial plant for production of anode graphite will be built at Herøya and start of production (fast-track) is planned in 2023. This material is a key component in lithium-ion battery cells.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the risk to our organization, employees, customers, reputation, assets and interests of stakeholders. You'll identify, assess, and follow up threats to our organization, put plans in place and decide how to avoid, reduce or transfer risk.
You will work in several areas, including:
Business continuity
Commodity (buying and selling) risk
Corporate governance
Enterprise risk
Environmental risk
Information and security risk
Financial risk
Market and credit risk
Regulatory and operational (health, safety and quality) risk
Technology risk
Responsibilities
As a risk manager in Vianode, you'll typically need to:
Plan, design and implement an overall risk management process for the organization
Make risk assessments, which involves analyzing risks as well as identifying, describing and estimating the risks affecting the business
Evaluate risk, which involves comparing estimated risks with criteria established by the organization such as costs, legal requirements and environmental factors, and evaluate previous handling of risks
Establish and quantify the organization’s 'risk appetite', i.e. the level of risk they are prepared to accept
Report risk in an appropriate way for different audiences
Undertake corporate governance involving external risk reporting to stakeholders
Initiate mitigating measures and making business continuity plans to limit risks and prepare for if things go wrong
Conduct audits of policy and compliance to standards, including liaison with internal and external auditors
Provide support, education, and training to staff to build risk awareness within the organization
Requirements
Relevant higher education (minimum bachelor’s degree)
Hands-on experience from risk management in complex organizations
Experience in risk handling related to projects
Experience from process industry
Interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Analytical skills
Planning and organization skills
The ability to react quickly and think on your feet
Technical acumen
