The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), has a vacancy for one position as researcher within diffusion MRI data analysis. The position is linked to the Trondheim traumatic brain injury (TBI) group/Trondheim fMRI group at The Department of Neuroscience and Movement Science. The duration of the position is for one year, with a possibility for a one-year extension.

The position is financed by an ERA-net Neuron grant. The successful candidate is expected to start in the position by December at the latest, but preferably earlier.

Description of project

The overall main aim of the ERA-net Neuron project TAI-MRI is to develop an improved method for classification of traumatic/diffuse axonal injury (TAI/DAI) to improve the current understanding of the acute clinical presentation of TBI and develop novel models for better predicting outcome in all severities of TBI.

The main focus of the current position is evaluation of the added value of different diffusion metrics to the new TAI/DAI classification. Models will be developed using data from Trondheim TBI database and externally validated data from Cambridge, and finally in Center TBI data (https://www.center-tbi.eu/). Prospective clinical and MRI data are already collected, quality controlled and ready for analyses."

Qualifications

Requirements of the applicants:

  • PhD degree within diffusion weighted MRI image analysis in the brain
  • Excellent programming skills
  • Experience with the multiple available DTI analysis programs
  • Good collaborative skills as this is a multicenter study
  • Clear and effective oral and written English to ensure good communication within the international TAI MRI team

Emphasis will be placed on:

  • Previous experience with analyzing traumatic brain injury MRI data
  • Experience with advanced statistics, preferably using R
  • Experience in developing predictive models
  • At least two publications

Depending on qualifications and academic background, Researcher (in code 1109) will be remunerated at a minimum of NOK 515 200 per year before tax. Normal wage level is NOK 515 200 - 660 000 of which 2% is deducted for the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
