Aker Solutions Structural & Marine department based in Bergen, Norway consists of 90 well qualified and experienced engineers. 60 + engineers works within specialized services and delivers world class technology within marine analyses for floating and fixed installations, structural integrity assessments and riser solutions. Some examples are: Wave in deck analyses, non-linear structural assessments (CFD), establish and maintain structural reanalyses models for numerous installations, stability analyses, mooring analyses, linear structural assessments and analyses, advanced FEM analyses by use of Abacus, Riser and Umbilical analyses etc. In addition to this our engineers participate in smaller and major multidiscipline modification projects like Njord upgrade, Troll phase III, Mongstad onshore projects etc. We maintain the structural analyses models and weight databases for several of the major oil companies in Norway which secures a steady workflow and a sustainable business.
In order to strengthen our team assigned to weight control and weight management of offshore installations in the operation phase; Aker Solutions in Bergen is looking for an engineer who can strengthen our team and support our ambitious growth plans within the market.
Responsibilities and tasks:
- Establish and maintain weight databases for various offshore installations
- Establish and maintain weight reporting procedures according to contract requirements
- Execute weight control in modification projects
- Produce weight reports according to contract requirements
- Proactive attitude with respect to collecting weight information from projects and general maintenance phase through drawings, reports and digital archive investigation
- Provide weight input for cost estimating in Concept Study phase
- Extract loads from weight reports as input to global structural analyses The work assumes contact with a number of people from various disciplines, and thereby gives a unique opportunity to get an overall view of the projects.
- Perform weight database quality assurance through sporadic offshore surveys
- Act as connection link between workshop and discipline input with regards to installed weights
- Seek new way of working to increase effectiveness
Qualifications & personal attributes:
- Relevant technical education, BSc in civil/marine or mechanical engineering is preferred experience from working with spreadsheets (excel and SQL-databases)
- A minimum of two years' experience from oil & gas industry but newly graduates will be considered
- Good interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated
- Good/fluent Norwegian language
- Offshore mobilisation requirements will be given
- Software Skills: Microsoft Excel, Word, SQL-databases
