GENERAL PURPOSE
You will become part of our advanced modelling team, working on international and highly innovative projects in the water field. The purpose of these project is to optimise, better design, and effectively scale-up water technology unit processes. These are processes used to treat drinking water and wastewater (for example: settling processes, membrane filtration processes, bioreactors, ... (see examples at AM-TEAM.com). The purpose of our modelling work is making clients happy by saving energy, improving water quality, saving operational costs etc. See this internship as an opportunity to become part of a strong team sharing some core values (see further), and being known for high level work.

MORE SPECIFIC
Using computational fluid dynamics, you will be modelling the unit processes in 3D, and AM-TEAM is known for its in house models, that can go further than 'standard' models. For example, we typically do not limit ourselves to calculation of flow patterns of the water in 3D. We often add 'process knowledge' in the form of adding a different phase (e.g. solids), accounting for different densities, or including kinetics. The good news is, you don't have to start from scratch, and you will be able to use and run existing models. Your work will be mainly related to R&D, and using the models we have, you will try to get new insights laying a foundation for novel ways to design and control the unit processes. For example, by understanding flow patterns of water and gas bubbles, as function of operational conditions, one could suggest smarter system design and operation. One could come up with opportunities no one currently considers using 'standard' practice.

Completed years of study: 3

Student is at the end of the curriculum. This means, in advanced stage of the master degree.
Basic CFD experience is added value. Understanding of process modelling is asset. CAD drawing is asset.

Student status obligatory: please include a Certificate of Enrolment with your nomination.
If trainee has non-EEA/Swiss nationality: maximum duration is 90 days.
