Aker Energy Legal Counsel

Aker Energy is now looking for aLegal Counsel(advokat/advokat fullmektig) to provide legal advice related to all aspects of Aker Energy's business and operations. You will perform analysis and legal risk assesments regarding draft contracts and documents in the area petroleum law. In this role you will also participate in working across disciplines, work streams and in business development projects.

Responsibilities and tasks:

• Research and review legal sources, collect and assess relevant information and provide legal assessments
• Review and draft contracts, letters, minutes of meetings and other internal and external legal documents
• Produce checklists, assess risks, collect documentation and keep files and records
• Participate in cross discipline teams that evaluate business ideas, new projects or prepares for negotiations
• Participate in due diligence and other internal and external reviews or audits and prepare reports
• Participate in negotiations and represent the company or the department in external forums
• Work closely and assist the senior legal counsels, as well as corporate functions such as Procurement, HSSE, CSR and Communication, both in Norway and in Ghana
• Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and development in contract law through industry publications, seminars, professional affiliations and industry meetings
• Participate actively in the Legal & Compliance team and contribute to developing a team that delivers high quality and business oriented legal and compliance advice to Aker Energy

Qualifications & personal attributes:

• Master's degree in law with excellent academic achievements
• 2-5 years' working experience from a law firm, governmental agency or other relevant institution
• Interest in, and knowledge of, the oil and gas industry
• Knowledge and experience within petroleum law, petroleum contracts, M&A, company law, tax or anti-bribery and corruption law and compliance
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in English and Norwegian
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products
• Ability to collaborate and work in teams
