At the Department of Sociology and Political Science (ISS) there is a vacant temporary position as Postdoctoral Fellow in peace and conflict research for a period of two years. The position is connected to the Department's research on peace and conflict, but also falls within the Department's research on political behavior and values (https://www.ntnu.edu/iss/research).
For several decades researchers at ISS have contributed to national and international research on political instability, intrastate armed conflict, and political regimes. The Department benefits from extensive collaboration with researchers at PRIO. The Departments also hosts internationally renowned research on political behavior (e.g., elections, electoral campaigns, conflicts of values, change of values, referendums and political trust).
A postdoctoral research fellowship is a qualification position in which the main objective is qualification for work in academic positions. We require a completed Norwegian PhD in sociology, political science or other relevant fields, or an equivalent foreign PhD approved as equivalent to a Norwegian PhD.

In the evaluation of which candidate is best qualified, emphasis will be placed on education, experience and personal suitability, as well as motivation, in terms of the qualification requirements specified in the advertisement.
The period of employment is two years, with the possibility of two additional years. Postdoctoral candidates are remunerated in code 1352, and are normally remunerated at gross from NOK 523 200 per annum before tax depending on qualifications and length of service. From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and attachment are seen to conflict with the criterias in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU. After the appointment you must assume that there may be changes in the area of work. It is a prerequisite that the appointed person takes up residence in order to be present and available for the institution as required.

The Department offers five-year master's programmes in teacher education (lektorutdanning) in social sciences as well as in physical education and sports. As a social science department we have a special obligation to contribute to the public debate on important social issues. The Department of Sociology and Political Science is one of seven departments in the Faculty of Social and Educational Sciences.
