In our two-year technical trainee programme, you will be given challenging work assignments and projects, a personal mentor and an individual development plan. The main work assignments will be based on your competence and interests, and could include:

  • Operation-related issues, based on continuous improvement
  • Research and development projects on processes and products

  • The work assignments will vary according to the needs of the receiving unit

Qualifications required for the position:

  • Master of Science with great academic results, graduated within August 2020
    • Materials technology, mechanical engineering, electro, energy & environment, cybernetics, nanotechnology, mechatronics, physics or chemical engineering
  • Excellent cooperation skills
  • Initiator and accountable
  • Flexible when it comes to tasks and mobility

The business area Production is responsible for operation and maintenance of all assets where Statkraft is the operator, and optimization of the value of the district heating activities.  The technical department constitutes a hub of expertise within a wide range of technical disciplines, with the aim to support Statkraft’s operational units with daily technical support as well as ensuring long-term optimization of assets in the portfolio of region Mid Norway.  The technical department also contributes with competence and capacity outside the region Mid Norway, where requested and relevant. The main activities of the business area Markets & IT (M) are energy management for Statkraft’s assets, trading & origination and market access services in Europe, South America and India. The business area also contains IT services and local business support, finance and risk support. M has more than 750 employees, with more than 20 nationalities working across 16 different locations. Nordic Energy Management (ME) is part of the business area M, and is responsible for optimizing the value of Statkraft's Nordic hydropower portfolio. The portfolio is one of Europe's largest, with a total installation of over 11,000 MW in Norway and Sweden. In addition to the hydropower portfolio, ME also manages the position of a growing wind portfolio which is currently approximately 2000 MW. In ME, there are more than 85 employees working in an integrated business process that includes hydrology, market analysis, production planning and power trading.  Your role As a trainee in Nordic Energy Management, you will become familiar with Norway’s largest environment for hydropower optimization. Statkraft aim to become a leading developer of onshore wind and solar projects, taking on a significantly larger number of projects than before. The business area European Wind and Solar (E) is responsible for development and ownership of wind and solar assets in Europe. The Project Delivery Unit (EDT) is now expanding in a number of European markets and is seeking a trainee to strengthen the business area’s technical centres of expertise within cost of energy optimization, wind power and/or solar power. The unit is supporting early phase project development and is responsible for technical management of wind and solar power projects during construction. You will report to Head of EDT. Your Role As a trainee in EDT, you will contribute to the selection, design and optimisation of wind and solar power projects. Depending on the qualifications of the trainee and the needs of Statkraft, the role content will be focused on cost of energy or design/technical management within solar or wind power.
