Job description
A temporary position of senior lecturer (SKO 1198) in China studies is available at the Department of Culture Studies and Oriental Languages, University of Oslo. The appointment is for a period of three and a half years. Starting date: 1 August 2020.
The vacancy is a teaching position, with 75 % teaching and supervision work, 19 % academic development work, and 6 % administration. Teaching will primarily be within the field of Chinese society and politics at bachelor and master's levels. The appointment is made on condition that changes to the subject area and tasks may be determined by the employer.
Qualification requirements
- PhD degree or equivalent academic qualifications with a specialization within Chinese society and politics
- Teaching experience within the field of Chinese society and politics. Experience with teaching in other fields of China studies may also be an advantage.
- Fluency in Chinese language
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in English
- Personal suitability and motivation for the position
The doctoral dissertation must be submitted for evaluation by the closing date. Appointment is dependent on the public defence of the doctoral thesis being approved.
In the evaluation of the applicants, emphasis will be placed on:
- Pedagogical qualifications and practice, mainly from universities or higher education institutions, see
- Academic publications in the field of Chinese society and politics
- Experience with teaching methods that engage students actively in class
- Experience from teaching Chinese society and politics at bachelor or master's level
- Good teamwork skills and experience
