About the position

We have a vacancy for a PhD Research fellow at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.

A PhD research fellow position in the field of functional ferroelectric materials is available. The PhD project is part of our initiative to develop advanced 2D materials for next-generation nanotechnology. Using state-of-the-art scanning probe microscopy, the PhD candidate will explore the nanoscale properties of ferroelectric domains and domain walls with a special focus on uniaxial ferroelectrics. This class of materials displays a wide range of unusual and fascinating physical phenomena, holding great potential for future technologies and the transition from nano- to atomic-scale electronics.

Further details about our research in the field can be found in our recent publication; see, e.g., Nature Materials 16, 622 (2017) and Nature Nanotechnology 13, 1028 (2018). Additional information about scientific activities and the research team can be found here:https://www.ntnu.edu/web/ima/research/facet/topological.
