Do you want be part of taking the Expedition segment up to a new level in the Explorer fleet in our quest to be the World Leader in exploration travel?
To fulfill this ambition we are looking for highly motivated Environmental scientists within sustainability, climate change, plastics, pollution and/or geology/glaciology to be part of our expedition teams.
The Environmental scientists report to the Expedition leader onboard each ship.
Duties and responsibilities
- Deliver destination-specific lectures based on your area of
expertise. - Prepare and deliver destination-specific "core" lectures when requested.
- Be fully knowledgeable of the destinations and prepared to give short presentations on points of interest both onboard and ashore.
- Drive a tenderboat, after successful completion of a company training course.
- Carry out duties as a wildlife guard (e.g., Polar Bear, Muskox) and carry a firearm, after successful completion of a company training course.
- Interpret surroundings (ice, geology, history, wildlife) for guests while ashore.
- Assist with landing procedures ashore.
- Accompany guests on shore excursions.
- Prepare a short biography.
- Assist with general onboard day-to-day duties as directed by the Expedition Leader.
- Undertake other duties as requested by Expedition Leader.
- Inform the Expedition Leader if any procedures or documentation needs to be changed.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree level in Environmental Science or Earth Sciences (Geology)
- Essential to speak fluent English
- Desirable to speak fluent German
- Health sertificate for sea (not needed before applying)
- Basic safety training (STCW) (not needed before applying)
- Crowd and crisis management (not needed before before applying)
