ABB Master Thesis: Augmented Reality for Industrial Applications

The augmented reality (AR) has been around for more than a decade but it is only recently that has spread to numerous industrial sectors. The software (SDKs’) and hardware (spectacles) enablers have matured enough to offer this technology to everyday life where many applications take advantage of it. Car manufacturers and medical personal embrace it as an essential tool to their daily tasks. However, the full potential of the AR has yet to be explored in the era of the 4th industrial revolution. Digitalization and high data availability is a reality than ever before. The AR can be the facilitator of how we experience this information and how we can become more efficient and productive in our working environment.

• Shortlist of development tools
• Proposal of potential solutions relevant to the energy industry
• Data access and utilization (local and remote)
• Demonstration of a working application in the field of asset management

• Programming (MS Visual Studio, Unity, Vuforia etc.)
• Experience with iOS and Android development
• Experience with Industrial OPC
• Familiar with Electrical and Automation concepts
• Networking
