District Health Information Software 2 () is an open source, web-based health management information system (HMIS) platform. Today, DHIS2 is the world's largest HMIS platform, used by ministries of health in 67 countries. The core DHIS2 software development is managed by the.
HISP is a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre, and works directly with global donors, ministries of health and NGOs to produce global goods addressing health information system needs in low- and middle-income countries. This work includes promoting global metadata standards and best design practices through the WHO-DHIS2 Health Data Toolkit. This toolkit includes standard configuration/metadata packages for DHIS2 based on global guidance developed in close partnership with content experts at the WHO, UNICEF and CDC. Job decription
The DHIS2 Technical Implementer will join the Global Health Content & Standards team at HISP UiO, focusing on a portfolio of work that includes extensive requirements gathering with international content partners, configuring DHIS2 -- aggregate, event and tracker -- according to international standards set with content partners, and providing technical support to countries adopting these standards into their national HIS. This implementer position will play a strong hands-on role in the configuration DHIS2 to meet the requirements of global content experts. The position will also contribute to the creation and updating of supporting material including implementation guidance, end user training templates, system design guides, training databases, etc. HISP has a long tradition of learning through country implementation and local innovation to improve our global public goods. This position is expected to work with and through the regional HISP network to support country implementation and facilitate learning & feedback loops.
- Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Configure DHIS2 health data packages for aggregate and tracker domains, in accordance with requirements set by content partners
- Participate in requirements gathering phases with global content partners such as WHO, UNICEF and CDC to translate metadata standards and functional requirements into DHIS2 design
- Assist with the creation and adaptation of training materials, implementation toolkits, training and demo databases
- Document new feature requirements and user stories for input into the software roadmap
- Support DHIS2 implementation activities, including travel and in-country assistance as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualification requirements
This position requires:
- At least five years’ experience in providing technology-related support for public health and/or international development
- Strong knowledge of DHIS2 configuration & implementation required
- Field-based implementation experience strongly preferred
- Master’s degree in a related field such as health informatics (e.g. MPH, MSc), or equivalent experience
- Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
- Fluency in English is essential; working proficiency in other languages (such as French, Spanish, Portuguese or Russian) a plus
- Knowledge of scripting and use of Web APIs a plus
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally as needed
- Eligible for employment in Norway
