We are seeking a Senior Application Engineer to join the Sony Semiconductor Solutions Europe Design Centre (EUDC) located in Lysaker, Oslo.

About the Role

• Reporting to the Application Engineer Manager, you will be responsible for testing, evaluating performance, and improving product image quality to help customers build their cameras and solve various application issues relevant to the image sensor product.
• You will also review customer camera designs, making special reference designs based on customer requirements, optimizing sensor settings and image quality tuning based on requests from customer, and writing various technical documents for customers to use the sensor correctly.
• You will work cross-functionally with multi-cultural teams, based in Norway, Germany, UK, and Japan.
• At the stage of customer evaluation for our sensor, you will drive customer support and help Field Application Engineers support their customers, helping them to set up and troubleshoot, as well as providing onsite support.
• Finally, you will deliver several training activities as well as create support materials for Sales and Marketing teams.

About you

• You are of a graduate caliber with a Ph.D. or master’s in engineering being your academic background mainly technical in Electronics, Semiconductors or Physics.
• You will come with extensive knowledge and experience of sensor architecture, image and colour processing, evaluation and improvement of image quality and hardware gained in industry or academia (CMOS camera applications, including hands-on experience with CMOS imagers in application test and design).
• You will bring us the expertise in functional verification of CMOS image sensor, image quality evaluation, sensor reference design for testing, and designing/reviewing demo boards for characterization and performance tuning, etc.
• Proficiency in English is required. Preferred additional languages are Norwegian or Japanese.
• Knowledge of automotive safety/critical design (ASIL, ISO26262) and knowledge of public key-based security standards will be an asset.
• You will also have deep knowledge of market application requirements and customer-specific requirements to identify alternative solutions.
