Aker Solutions’ Controls R&D department, in Tranby, Norway, is responsible for design and development of next-generation subsea control systems, electrical actuators, condition and performance monitoring and electrification of subsea products. The department is a spearhead within the company, developing new technologies and enabling digitalization.Controls R&D consists of 4 discipline teams:
- Product Architecture & Test
- Embedded Electronics & Mechanics
- Embedded Software & Configuration
- Product Support & Sustaining
Our development strategy is built on state-of-the-art processes and methodology, such as agile, virtualization and test-driven development. The departments have direct access to in-house lab facilities with equipment and tools for concept development, prototyping and testing.
We are looking for a Technical Discipline Lead for our Embedded Electronics & Mechanics design team. You will supervise the technical output of the Embedded Electronics (EE) discipline, in addition to being a daily contributor to the projects. Are you the one?
What will you be doing?
As team lead you will support the execution and planning within R&D, translating product requirements into detailed requirements, specifications and designs, product verification, industrialization and product support. Additionally, this team is also responsible for mechanical design related to mounting and encapsulation of electronic cards.
- Lead and develop the EE and Mechanical team in cooperation with the Controls R&D Line Manager
- Participate in studies and early phase projects for new solutions
- Allocate HW Electronics resources to R&D Projects, Tender, Studies and Product Support
- Maintain development processes for the HW Electronics discipline in compliance with required industry and client standards
- Ensure product designs are of correct quality and reliability, compliant with detailed requirements and fit with applicable product architectures
- Maintain standard product design libraries ensuring re-use of proven design components in more complex products wherever possible
- Manage single HW Electronics discipline projects
- Keep up to date with current technologies in related markets ensuring the most appropriate technologies are used in current designs
We think you should have:
- B/MSc degree within electronics, cybernetics or similar
- 5+ years’ relevant experience in product development
- Lead experience from embedded product development or design teams
- Experience from development of Progressive Web Apps (PWA’s)
- Familiar with relevant industry standards
- Able to lead design “Failure mode, effects and criticality analysis” (FMECA) and use problem-solving methodologies (8D)
- Experience from Safety Integrity Level (SIL) rated development is a bonus
- Good people and communication skills
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Ability to handle complex specifications and develop consistent solutions
