ABB Norway PAEN (Process Automation and Energy Industries) is involved in projects delivering electrical equipment and advanced control systems covering a broad field of applications. For this position we are looking to expand our team to primarily address the oil and gas market in growth, where advanced electrical solutions are taken in use to lower carbon footprint. As ABB is involved in offshore wind, power from shore, subsea systems, land-based industry, advanced buildings, onshore and offshore fish farms, hydropower plants and more, you can also be involved in activities in those fields of application. In this role, you work close with the project management team, the project engineering team, suppliers and customers. You will also be involved in commissioning of generator systems at offshore/onshore sites - to the greatest extent on the Norwegian continental shelf. The role reports to Engineering Manager.
Your responsibilities
- Being accountable for delivery in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, cost estimates and safety requirements of the project.
- Providing technical support for engineering, testing, installation and commissioning activities and acting as a technical specialist with good knowledge on electrical & generator systems.
- Engineering, design & service of electrical generator systems, including voltage regulator systems (AVR), switchboards, protection relay (IED), transformers and more.
- Designing solutions and following up specifications according to customer’s requirements.
- Implementing customer functional requirements into ABB’s products.
- Following up and executing review and upgrade-activities in projects and service orders.
- The position involves working together with Norwegian and internationals customers and vendors, therefore some travelling must be expected.
Your background
- B.Sc. or higher professional degree (Fagskole) in Electrical Power Engineering
- Able to communicate in English, verbal and written
- Basic understanding of the following systems: generator/motor, protection relays and voltage control systems, UPS, low voltage switchboards, dry type transformers
- Preferably you have a previous experience with generator control or electrical motors
- It is a major benefit if you are familiar with mechanical completion and erection of electrical equipment
- Experience with “hands-on” installation / testing and commissioning of generator systems (experience as Electrician/Commissioning Engineer) is a merit
- It is natural for you to coach, support and advise colleagues, customers and suppliers
- Service-minded team player with commercial awareness
- Eager to learn and develop yourself and your colleagues
- Can combine theoretical knowledge and practical skills
- Willingness to travel
