About the position
The Institute of Clinical Medicine has a vacant position as Professor II or Associate Professor (depending on academic qualifications) at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Division of Medicine and Laboratory Sciences. The part-time professorship (20%) is combined with a fulltime (100%) senior consultant position at the Department of Microbiology and Infection Control, Akershus University Hospital.
The successful applicant will have an important role in shaping our future research, teaching of medical students and research fellows. The hospital’s research strategy encourages integration of basic and clinical research. Experience and competence in translational research will be considered an advantage.
Applicants are expected to collaborate actively with leading research groups through national and international networks. Applicants should hold a strong record in research within infection control and should also have ongoing research activity. It is expected that the successful candidate will develop a strong research network within the department and the institution, as well as nationally and internationally, and be able to obtain research funding from external sources. Ability to create an attractive and stimulating academic environment within the department and attract PhD students and postdoctoral fellows is essential. The successful applicant will also participate in teaching of medical students in medical microbiology and infection control at the University of Oslo.
