Are you our new Embedded Software Engineer?
In Lysaker, near Oslo, you find Cisco Webex Devices R&D Center. We develop video conference solutions. Our products help people connect and collaborate all over the world, without actually moving people around. The only way to make people choose digital solutions over traveling, is to improve the technology. The technology has to be awesome enough to become a real alternative – also in the most important meetings.
We make both hardware and software and develop all parts of Webex Devices under the same roof - from idea to design, mechanics, industrial design, user experience, machine learning and artificial intelligence. Cisco Webex Devices are used by small businesses, universities, governments, international organizations, multinational corporations, powerful political leaders – and even by Queen Elizabeth II.
We are currently looking for Software Engineers to strengthen our embedded software team to create our new video conferencing devices.
What you will do
Our embedded software teams are working closely with both the hardware team and higher-level software teams to create both great hardware and software. You will be part of a strong engineering team with broad and deep technology competence. Our main goal is to make sure that our hardware and software works well together.
Your role is not yet defined, but will be formed around your competence, ideas and field of interest.
In this role you will
- be responsible for the big picture, while keeping track of a thousand details
- be a problem-solver
- work cross-functionally and get to know other disciplines than your own
- have the possibility to grow and develop, both personally and professionally
- be included in a network of amazing people in a specialist environment
Who you are
For this role we are looking for a persistent problem solver with the ability to see the big picture. You are passionate about technology, systematic in your approach and get motivated by continuous improvement. To succeed in this role, you need creative problem-solving skills and excellent troubleshooting skills. You like to get things done and have an attention to quality and detail, and an interest in writing software that efficiently utilizes the target hardware. You are curious, self-driven and enjoy working in teams.
In addition, you have
- master's degree in a relevant field
- 2+ years of work experience
- an interest in or knowledge of one or more of our embedded domains: C programming, Python programming, Linux distros, device drivers, bootloaders, build systems or real-time systems
- the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English
- the possibility to live and work in Norway with no additional visa sponsorship from Cisco
If this sounds like you, we are eager to hear from you!
