Role Summary:

The hydropower market is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years. Rainpower is aiming towards a global industrial footprint, and to always be the cutting edge in digitalization and automation of our Hydropower plants. Due to the increased growing market potential, we are expanding our field service department with a Commissioning Engineer to cover the field of commissioning of control systems, turbine governors, and excitation.

Essential Responsibilities:

You will together with the team, have the responsibility for commissioning of newbuilds, control systems, turbine governors and generator excitation equipment out in the field. There will also be ad-hoc service trips on existing equipment, or refurbishment/upgrade projects. The Commissioning Engineer we are looking for, will have the opportunity to play a key role in our projects, and function as our company representative out in the field.

• Commissioning (SAT) of hydropower control systems, excitation and turbine governors
• Participate in design reviews together with the project-managers up front of initiating Sitework
• Prepare and execute factory acceptance tests inhouse our testing facilities (FAT)
• Support and participate in commissioning out on site
• Perform Service assignments out in the field on existing equipment
• Provide feedback to project department with the lessons learned for future improvement

Qualifications/Requirements:

• BSc. or MSc. University degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation (eg. Mechatronics) or equivalent knowledge or experience.
• Experience with PLS programming and HMI, primarily Siemens TIA Portal
• Basics of electrical and loop diagrams
• Drivers License approved for Norway.
• Fluent in Norwegian and English. Norwegian writing is compulsory
• Willingness to travel, primarily Nordics, but also globally.Desired Characteristics:
• Experience/knowledge in hydropower
• Experience interfacing with customers
• Experience with Siemens Relay protectors (Siprotec-series)
• Certificate of apprenticeship within electro, group H or L
