Volue Insight is looking for a Quantitative Analyst who wants to help deliver the best models for predicting electricity consumption, production and price, both short and long term. You will contribute to giving our customers the best quantitative advice for the future. You take pride in developing clean code, and take a holistic approach to all aspects of real time forecasting, such as data quality, monitoring and performance. By making our outlooks for the future more accurate and complete, we enable a more predictable future for energy market participants and help facilitate a transition to a more sustainable tomorrow.
Volue Insight is a focused team with 50 committed employees that delivers insight with data and analytics for energy markets and helps customers manage trading risks. The tools we develop provide best in class real-time data and forecasts, as well as market analysis for the next 15 minutes, 30 years, and beyond. We serve a large number of clients, including some of the world's major energy companies and financial institutions. You will get the creative energy of a medium-sized company with close colleagues and proximity to the decision-makers. As part of our quantitative analysis department, your main responsibilities will be:
- Development and maintenance of models for electricity supply, demand and price forecasts
- Cooperate with Volue Insight's Development department to ensure reliable and consistent data flow
- Incorporate market knowledge from Volue Insight's Market Analysis department into model development
What you need to have to succeed:
- Strong academic background, preferably a degree in physics, mathematics, data science or economics
- Great quantitative modelling skills, advanced skills in mathematics, statistics and/or optimization
- Experience with time series analysis
- Programming experience in Python, R, MatLab or similar
- Knowledge/experience with electricity markets or meteorology is a plus
- Excellent team-player with very good communication skills
- Fluency in English, fluency in an additional language is a plus
- Structured and analytical approach to all tasks
- The ability to communicate and work with all manner of team members, in an inclusive way
