We are now recruiting for trainee positions within Engineering based in Oslo.
Statkraft’s International Trainee Program is a great introduction into working life. You will spend 16-months learning and developing yourself alongside other graduates and start your career in renewables. The program consists of three job rotations across the company, of which at least one will be abroad. As a trainee, you will participate in various professional development courses and gatherings to acquire new skills and share experiences. You will also get the opportunity to apply for a seat on our CEO-led Future Board initiative -- an advisory board made up of trainees and young professionals in Statkraft.
Trainee Nordic Asset Exposure Management
Department
You will be part of the Asset Exposure Management (MA) unit within the Business Area Markets “M”. The unit leverages M’s deep market insight, excellence in market operations, and proficiency in providing market solutions for Statkraft’s assets in Nordics, Europe, and New Energy Solutions such as portfolio management, revenue optimisation, hedging, and regulatory advisory. MA also provides support on asset development and commercial strategy. This role is placed under the MA Nordics unit (MAN).
We are looking for a trainee to a member of the MAN team and you will be a key in delivering market solutions to the biggest renewable portfolio in the Nordics. This will entail tasks such as:
- Contribute the total asset exposure management for the Nordics and support portfolio management in MAN.
- Providing commercial strategy advise for Nordics asset development and M&A.
- Contribute to revenue calculations for assets.
The role reports to the VP MAN.

- Relevant higher education at Master´s level (Economics, Sciences, Engineering or similar).
- No more than one year of work experience post education (excluding internships/part-time jobs).
- Proven quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborative work style and strong interpersonal and team skills.
- Understanding of financial or energy markets preferable.
- Ability to identify key issues, analyze data, and make recommendations to ensure the departments function meets asset owner’s expectations.
- Ability to translate analysis into concrete and understandable recommendations and actions.
- Good business acumen -- commercially minded and result oriented.
- Self-driven and able work on several activities simultaneously and handle tight deadlines.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Trainee Energy Management Nordics
Department
You will be part of the Energy Management (ME) unit within the Business Area Markets (M). From hydrology and analysis of future market development, to optimizing advanced renewable power plants in a complex energy market as well as development of algorithmic trading systems and other IT. Energy Management Nordics (MEN) is responsible for market access and optimizing the income from Statkraft’s Nordic power plants.
As trainee within Energy Management Nordics, you will:
? Learn about the energy market, advanced renewable power plants and IT-development from a leading team of experts.
? Participate in optimizing the largest portfolio of renewable assets in Europe.
? Collaborate with colleagues from many parts of Statkraft, for instance hydrology, market analysis, regional control rooms, technical departments, and IT.
About you:
We look for a trainee with the essential skills to future-proof our business and renewable energy solutions. That includes:
- Relevant higher education on Master’s level (Technical, Economics or similar).
- No more than one year of work experience post education (excluding internships/part-time jobs).
- Curiosity and interest for working in the core of Statkraft’s business.
- Interest for energy markets, power system operation and power plants.

Trainee Risk Management (Düsseldorf)
The Risk department in Market Operations supports the energy transition by given an independent assessment of market, credit and liquidity risks embedded in our trading, origination, and asset portfolios. We continuously enhance our risk tools for a world driven by renewable energy. Our advice is valued by senior management and plays an important part in their decision making.
Working in Risk Management
From helping to run advanced renewable power plants, developing the technologies that power EV charging infrastructures, to supporting our business solutions and corporate functions. With Statkraft, you’ll be working and collaborating alongside other technology and digital experts to innovate, maintain and provide the world with renewable energy.
As a trainee in the Risk Department, you will:
- Work on market, credit and liquidity risks and develop key risk insights for our trading, origination, and asset portfolios.
- Apply financial and statistical theory to our energy portfolios and improve our tool kit for Statkraft’s future growth.
- Actively collaborate with Front Office on new and novel energy transactions across Europe, US, India, and Latin America and advise Front Office on risk issues.
- Drive forward the department’s digitalisation agenda to enhance operational reliability and reduce time spent on data collection and reporting, and use saved time for data analysis instead.
About you:
We look for a trainee with the essential skills to future-proof our business and renewable energy solutions. That includes:
- A university degree in a numerical discipline like Maths, Engineering, or Economics with good results.
- No more than one year of work experience post education (excluding internships/part-time jobs).
- An eagerness to turn theory into action.
- Working knowledge of Phyton, Mathlab or R.
- Basic knowledge of financial theory and financial instruments is highly desirable.
- A keen interest in electricity markets.
- Ability to pay attention to detail without getting lost by details.
- Willingness to innovate and improve our ways of working.
- Ability to simplify complex matters without being simplistic and thereby make it accessible for others outside of the risk department.

Location: Lilleaker, Oslo for Trainee Nordic Asset Exposure Management and Trainee Energy Management Nordics and Düsseldorf for Trainee Risk Management.
Travel: some travel required and one rotation abroad during the trainee periode.
