We are now looking for safety- and quality minded, dynamic, and detail-oriented high performer to join our fast-paced and exciting Technical Service team as a Senior Technical Expert 4-Stroke . The role is offered as a permanent contract and will be based in Rubbestadneset, Norway . We encourage qualified candidates of various seniority levels to apply, as the role can be offered as either Senior Technical Expert 4-Stroke or Technical Expert 4-Stroke.

What will you be doing?

As a Senior Technical Expert 4-Stroke in Technical Service, you will be working in a globally recognized technical knowledge centre within Wärtsilä, where you will be providing a high level of product related technical support to external and internal customers throughout the product lifecycle.

In this role, travelling is expected. Your main working place is at the office in Rubbestadneset, but you will have the possibility to work partially remotely, in accordance with our hybrid work model.

Your responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing high level engine expert support for internal and external customers.
  • Managing and participating in root cause analyses.
  • Participating in and contributing to product development activities for 4-stroke products.
  • Attending customer meetings and seminars in cooperation with our Service Sales Department.
  • Providing specialist expertise through product training for internal staff.
  • Following up and solving problems together with other technical departments with Technical Service, collaborating closely to enable efficient world-class support.
  • Supporting other departments in need of product and field related knowledge.
  • Conducting audits, site surveys, and troubleshooting in the field.
  • Actively following relevant development and innovations both internally and externally through literature, research, and contact with other businesses.
  • Participating in our 24/7 duty.

The below will enable you to succeed in this role:

  • BSc or MSc in Marine or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent (documented relevant experience can compensate for lack of relevant education).
  • Significant experience with 4-stroke engine mechanics.
  • Experience with machinery controls will be considered an advantage.
  • Experience with operations, installation, and/or maintenance of other Wärtsilä products will be considered an advantage.
  • True team player qualities with excellent cooperation skills.
  • Structured, analytical, proactive, and flexible way of working.
  • Strong technical reporting and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Customer-focused and service-oriented attitude.
  • Quality and safety-oriented mindset.
  • Proficient English and Norwegian or Scandinavian language skills, both written and verbal.
  • Safety certificate for offshore work (if not already obtained, Wärtsilä will cover associated costs).
  • Willingness to travel.
