Position as postdoctoral research fellow in cosmology is available at the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
The fellowship period is 3 years. Within the framework of the position duties may be assigned. Starting date as soon as possible in 2015. No one can be appointed for more than one specified period at the same institution.
Job DescriptionThe position is funded by the Research Council of Norway project “Norwegian Participation in Euclid: Implementation phase” led by profs. David F. Mota, Øystein Elgarøy and Per B. Lilje. This project aims at having a major role in Euclid Science Working Groups preparing for the Euclid mission and to do valuable research on a shorter time scale within the scientific objectives of Euclid. Specifically the postdoctoral research fellow will work on a project which is shared between the Cosmological Theory and Cosmological Simulations Science Working Groups of Euclid, studying observable consequences of modified gravity and massive neutrinos through cosmological simulations and semi-analytical approaches.
The Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics is part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. It presently has 11 permanent professors/associate professors. The Institute employs about 14 postdoctoral research fellows and has about 18 Ph.D. students. The research activity of the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics is concentrated around cosmology, extragalactic astrophysics and solar physics (

QualificationsThe Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition of being a leading research faculty. Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.
The candidate must have a PhD or other corresponding education equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in astronomy/astrophysics, computer science, applied mathematics or a related discipline. Candidates should be familiar with cosmological simulations.
The main purpose of post-doctoral research fellowships is to qualify researchers for work in top academic positions within their disciplines.

SalaryPosition code 1352, Pay Grade: 57 – 65 (NOK 482 800 – 559 600 per year, depending on qualifications and seniority).
