Canal Digital AS seeks a forward leaning technologist to lead the Online Video Platforms department within the Technology and IS (Information Systems) division.

The department is responsible for technical operation and development of Online Video, OnDemand and Interactive Systems (Online Video Platforms), including various end user clients and applications (Canal Digital GO). The department is focused on the implementation and execution of the service and product strategy, design and development, as well as system management and platform ownership.

Department high level mandate:

• Execution of defined and anchored technology strategy and architectures
• Lifecycle management of the Online Video Platform and Clients. Clients include streaming applications for the Canal Digital GO service for decoder, iOS, android and web (PC/Mac).
• Contract ownership for Platform Service Components (such as Online Video Platform (Content Management), Search and Recommendation Engine, Metadata platforms, Live streaming and Timeshift (CatchUp, Startover nPVR), Offline Encoding and Content adaptation, as well as Content Distribution Network (CDN).
• Responsibility of problem management and continuous improvement of platforms and services in operation
• Reporting to CTO/CIO in Canal Digital AS

Online Video Platform (OVP)
Overall end-to-end and lifecycle responsibility for the Online Video Platform, which include; implementation, integration, launch, operate (partly), support, maintain and monitor for the following subsystems

• Adaptive Streaming Transcoding
• Recording (CatchUp) and Dynamic Live-to-VoD
• Teleport Services (Streaming and Timeshift Services)
• OnDemand systems (audio, video, applications) for DTH/IP (hybrid) delivery
• Offline Content Adaptation (Encoding/Transcoding) and Workflows
• Digital Rights Management and Security
• WEB-TV solutions (Multiscreen Delivery and Clients)
• Multiscreen (iOS, Android)
• Screencasting and OTT device technologies
• Content Distribution Network (CDN)

The right candidate will be trusted with great technical and platform strategic responsibility, and will be key in defining the future TV platforms in Canal Digital. The position entails a high degree of innovation and development of sophisticated online streaming services, in close collaboration with our Product department, partners and vendors.
