Hydro’s Energy business area is responsible for safe and efficient operations of Hydro’s hydropower plants in Norway, and our experts work actively in a number of markets in Europe and Brazil to support the energy agendas of Hydro’s global aluminium business.

The Energy Market unit is responsible for maximizing the value of Hydro’s power portfolio and for providing energy portfolio management for our aluminium activities in Europe and Brazil. The unit is now looking for a Production Planner to the Physical Market Optimization team (PMO).

The Physical Market Optimization department is responsible for the operational commercial management of 22 power stations and the power consumption in five aluminium plants in the Nordic power market. The Production Planner will operate in a highly skilled commercial environment with advanced sophisticated optimization tools, and also cooperate closely with the production sites. Continuous development work, on models and processes, is part of the work, also in close cooperation with external R&D institutions.

Area of Responsibility

  • Perform daily commercial optimization of Hydro’s power production and consumption in Norway
  • Present and perform daily production decisions in a commercial environment
  • Take part in the department’s duty scheme for production planning
  • Contribute and take responsibility in development of the portfolio optimization process
  • Responsible for development of the short term optimization model

Qualifications

To thrive and succeed in the role as Production Planner, we believe the right candidate holds the following qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in technology, science or mathematics
  • Work experience within the energy business is an advantage, but newly qualified is also welcome to apply
  • You are proactive in seeing, proposing and implementing new ideas to drive performance
  • You are capable to challenge and suggest improvements in intraweek and intraday optimization
  • You will demonstrate strong analytical skills as well as you pay attention to details
  • You have strong quantitative capability and computer skills, such as: Microsoft Azure cloud, Python, “R”, C++
  • You are fluent in English and Norwegian
