The business area Market Operations and IT (M) has more than 600 employees  located in Europe. About 20 nationalities make up our teams, working in 12 different locations. Our working language  is English and we teach each other cultural awareness every day.

M aims to be a leading provider of market solutions for renewable energy – integrating Statkraft’s and our customers’ production and consumption into the market. Statkraft has almost 20 000 MW of renewable energy, and most of this is highly flexible hydropower. Therefore, optimization of power generation is part of M’s core business. This is based on solid analyses of all market drivers, including developments in fuel markets and hydrology. Further, Statkraft has a substantial Trading and Origination business across Europe and a growing business internationally, with thousands of power trades executed daily from the trading offices. The trading and customer business are one of the big growth areas in Statkraft’s strategy going forward.

One part of Trading and Origination is focused on developing quantitative and algorithmic trading solutions. This department is part of front office and is expected to be profitable while digitalizing the trading environment from the inside.

We want to strengthen our team by offering a highly motivated young person a 12 months Internship, based at our office in Trondheim. 

Internship

Your role:

As an intern in quantitative and algorithmic trading you will be able to work on advanced topics within automation, portfolio management and applied machine learning. You will be developing new trading strategies in energy markets and will have a unique opportunity to be part of the future of trading. The tasks will be tailored to the candidate’s specific background and interests.

Experience with machine learning and handling big data is seen as an advantage. Keen interest can compensate for formal education and work experience.

Your profile: 

• You have a university degree (Master or PhD) in a quantitative field like Econometrics, Mathematics, Finance, Natural Science or Engineering
• Very strong analytical and programming skills in Python or similar
• You are fluent in English
• You are a team player and enjoy a high pace of work
• You are interested, motivated and want to be a part of Statkraft’s future development
