Data Analyst - ESG Analytics Oslo
Norges Bank Investment Management is seeking a data analyst to join its ESG Analytics team. The ESG Analytics team sits within the Corporate Governance department and is responsible for driving the integration of ESG data into the investment process. You will work with a cross-departmental group of economists, data scientists, and portfolio managers to identify and exploit proprietary and external ESG data to improve portfolio management and company engagement.
Your role will be to structure data, build models, and perform data analysis at the company and portfolio level. You will be responsible for contributing throughout the ESG analytics value chain - from collecting and managing ESG data to collaborating with portfolio managers and engagement teams to develop new insights for investment and ownership activities. In this role, you will also manage data projects, and develop and maintain reporting tools. You will work closely alongside talented colleagues from teams across the investment organization, including the technology and operations teams, investment teams, the risk teams, sustainability teams, and research teams. Quantitatively inclined individuals with a scientific, economics or finance background are encouraged to apply. Experience with data analytics and programming is necessary for the role.
The position is located in Oslo and will report to the Head of ESG Analytics. Some travel will be required.
What you will do
- Structuring, cleaning, and quality assurance of ESG datasets
- Extracting insights from large structured and unstructured ESG and financial datasets
- Developing internal ESG scoring and sustainability assessments
- Modelling, developing, and automating analytical and reporting tools
- Visualising insights from data analysis to support decision making
- Supporting internal and public reporting on ESG and responsible investment
- Coordinating with data vendors
Who you need
- Bachelor's or master's degree in information technology, economics, finance, engineering or other relevant field with strong academic records
- Up to 3 years of relevant work experience in data analytics
- Experience with Python or R for data analytics, and familiarity with data processing tools such as SQL or Tableau
- Experience with AWS, Snowflake, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and version control in git is desirable but not necessary
