The key purpose of this role is to provide insights and a deeper understanding of the energy transition in Europe and globally. This includes identifying important drivers, understanding their impact, and model the interaction between different parts of the energy system. Your insights will feed into the strategic decision making in Statkraft as well as our long-term price forecasts.

Working in Corporate Strategy & Analysis - Global Drivers
The Global Drivers department, is Statkraft’s centre of expertise on the long-term development of the energy system, including analysing sector coupling, the role of hydrogen, key technologies, fuels and emissions/CO2 pricing. The department consists of eight dedicated and enthusiastic team members. We are currently searching for a Senior Analyst with experience in energy markets and market modelling.
As part of this role, you will:
- Analyse the important drivers and the interactions in the energy systems for Europe and globally to be able to generate new insights for Statkraft
- Be responsible for modelling the European energy system, and further develop our modelling and analytical approach in cooperation with the rest of the team
- Develop a view on the global energy balance for the long-term horizon in close collaboration with the rest of the team
- Work closely with the rest of the team, and cross collaboration with the other internal power market analysis teams, and integrate knowledge into a holistic and consistent analysis
About you:
We look for an experienced Senior Energy Market Analyst, with:
- Master’s degree in science, economics, engineering or similar and at least 7 yrs working experience
- Extensive experience and understanding of the energy and power markets
- Experience in energy system modelling and/or other market modelling
- Basic programming knowledge is an advantage (Python, MS Excel, Gams)
- Sound judgement, excellent analytical and problem solving skills, the ability to improve and drive the analyses and modelling approach forward
- Strong communications skills: explaining and presenting complex content in written and oral presentations, fluency in English language
- Self-driven, comfortable with high work pressure and a positive team player
