The business area Market Operations and IT (MOIT) has more than 500 employees spread across Europe. About 20 nationalities make up our teams, working in 10 different locations. Our common language of communication is English and we teach each other cultural awareness every day.
MOIT’s major activities are energy management for Statkraft’s European assets including analysis and long term price forecasts, trading & origination as well as gas –to-power development. In addition the business area offers local business support, Finance & Risk support for the two segments Nordic Hydro and Continental Energy & Trading and IT services to the whole company.
Energy Management Nordic is responsible for one of Europe’s largest hydropower portfolios, with a total installation of 10,000 MW in Norway, Sweden and Finland. This business unit has 72 employees with top competence in hydrology, production planning, power trading, risk management, modeling and analyses and is located in Oslo and Trondheim.
Your role:
The trainee program consists of four 6 months assignments in different countries. The exact composition of the 2-year program will be tailored to your background, and will give you broad experience and professional challenges. As a trainee in Energy Management Nordic, you will become familiar with Norway’s largest environment for production optimisation and sale of power to Nord Pool, the Nordic hydropower system and advanced hydrological models and data as a basis for work on price prognoses and production. An interest in operational work in combination with more long term development is crucial.
Your profile:
- University degree in economics, engineering or natural sciences with outstanding results
- Ability to connect technical and economic aspects of the energy business
- Strong commercial sense
- You are interested in the fundamental drivers of the energy markets and in financial theories and models
- Good knowledge of and interest in hydro power is an advantage.
- Result and self driven international team player with very good communications skills
- Excellent analytical skills, programming skills would be an advantage
- Strong command of the English language; proficiency in another European language would be an advantage
- Flexibility with regard to tasks and working location
