The BW Offshore Graduate Programme aims to give young talents with an international mindset a solid overview of the business as well as a strong understanding of expectations and possibilities within BW Offshore.
The oil and gas sector is increasingly competing with other industries to attract and retain
competent and engaged employees. BW Offshore’s Young Talent Programmes are aimed
at attracting and retaining talent even before graduation.
As a Graduate with BW Offshore, you get to:
• Work in highly competent teams
• Spend time in various disciplines
• Visit multiple locations – both onshore and offshore
• Build a strong career foundation
The three-year programme, which includes close mentorship from dedicated senior personnel, builds a strong foundation for long-term personal development and a career with BW Offshore.
What is the recruitment process?
We have a rigorous process for hiring our Young Talent, simply because we really want it to be a good fit for both the Company and the employee. Normally we have at least two rounds of interviews, as well as case studies.
How long is the Graduate Programme?
• Our Graduate Programme spans over three years, where we will expose you to several parts of the company - both locations and disciplines/departments, before settling on a more long-term role for each Graduate.
• Our Graduates are considered part of the team from day one and should expect a steep learning curve as well as an interesting and challenging role in the company throughout the programme.
When does the Graduate Programme start?
We have a common start date for Graduates in August every year, but we accommodate students who finish their degrees during different times of the year as well.
What are the possible locations I could be placed in during a Graduate Programme (3 years)?
The Company is currently operating 12 units across the world, and in theory you can travel to any of these locations during the programme. When you start as a Graduate with BW Offshore, a development plan will be set up by your Line Manager, and you will start working in an ongoing project. Depending on which unit you will support, travelling to the country it is located is very realistic – either for short term business trips, or for longer assignments. Again, this is very individual and based on project needs and employee preference for travelling.
What does a normal day look like?
BW Offshore is a company large enough to have exciting challenges and projects, while being small enough so that every employee matters, and is seen. This also means that few days are the same, since we strive to accommodate the needs of the units and our colleagues offshore. For Engineers, you can be sure to be given real challenges and responsibility early on, and to have a steep growth curve when joining the Company.
What kind of mentoring and supervision can I expect during the Graduate Programme?
You will get a dedicated mentor who is also your Line Manager who will follow you up closely to ensure you get enough challenges and support throughout the duration of the programme.
What happens when I have completed the programme?
Towards the end of the formal programme, it is expected that you will be working more and more with the identified discipline or department where you will continue your career upon completion of the Graduate Programme.
