Wattsight is expanding and we are looking for two highly skilled power Analysts, one Senior Analyst and one Short term Analyst. Both positions are full-time and based in one of our offices in Arendal, Oslo or Berlin.
Short term Analyst
Wattsight is in a process to further develop and expand the analysis on Intraday price forecasts and are looking for a highly skilled European short-term power analyst to strengthen our team.
As part of our team, your main responsibilities will be:
- Develop and program Intraday and Day ahead price forecasting models for European energy markets based on Wattsight's unique fundamental dataset.
- Work together with the model development team and our experienced market analysts.
- Communicate with our customers to exchange market views and model insight both via web and other type of presentations.
- Continuously increase quality by evaluating, extending and improving current models
- Cooperate with the IT and Quantitative department to ensure reliable and consistent data flow
- Reflect on strengths and weaknesses of both traditional forecasting tools and machine learning algorithms
- Sales support
- Daily operations
Qualifications:
- Strong academic background, preferably master in economic, engineering, physics, mathematics or data science
- Experience from working in Intraday trading teams for electrical power.
- Good programming skills and skills in mathematics, statistics or optimization
- Knowledge and interest in machine learning techniques
- Excellent team-player with very good communication and presentation skills
- Fluency in English. Fluency in other European languages would be an advantage
- Structured and analytical approach to all tasks
Senior Analyst
Wattsight is expanding our forward and long-term forecasts to new European countries, and we are looking for a highly skilled power analyst to strengthen our team.
As part of our team, your main responsibilities will be:
- Develop and modelling forward price forecasts for all European countries based on established modelling tool (Plexos) and Wattsight's fundamental data input.
- Work together with the model development team and our experienced market analysts.
- Engage with customers to understand their requirements.
- Communicate our views and model insights both via web and events all over Europe.
- Contribute to Wattsight product development by identifying new opportunities and expanding our capabilities.
- Continuously increase quality by evaluating, extending and improving current products
- Cooperate with the IT and Quantitative department to ensure reliable and consistent data flow
- Sales support
- Project management
- Daily operations
Qualifications:
- Strong academic background, preferably master in economic, engineering, physics, mathematics or data science
- Experience from power markets in one or several parts of Europe.
- Management experience is an advantage
- Experience in working with dispatch and capacity expansion models for the energy market is a plus.
- Good programming skills and skills in mathematics, statistics or optimization is preferable
- Excellent team-player with very good communication and presentation skills
- Fluency in English. Fluency in one or several additional European languages will be an advantage
- Structured and analytical approach to all tasks
