We are happy to announce a vacant 3-year postdoctoral position. The position is dedicated to evaluate interventions aiming to improve wellbeing and mental health in the population -- i.e., what works?

The post-doctoral position is available at the Department of Mental Health and Suicide, The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH). The position is linked to the recently established PROMENTA Research Center, Department of Psychology, University of Oslo where NIPH is a major partner. PROMENTA is an interdisciplinary research center aiming to provide answers to three central questions in mental health, wellbeing, and drug use research: What processes lead to poor and good mental health, and how? How do social and geographic inequalities in mental health arise? How can we develop, tailor, and evaluate effective interventions in communities to promote good mental health? To address these questions, we examine sources of mental health on a variety of levels, such as genetic risk, neurocognitive development, the psychosocial environment, and the socio-cultural and political context. The center is mainly financed by the Research Council of Norway, the University of Oslo and NIPH. For more information about PROMENTA, please visit

More about the position
The Postdoctoral Fellow will be linked to the PROMENTA research project Gap-Bridging through Co-Creation and will work closely with other members of PROMENTA as well as researchers at the NIPH to examine the effects of interventions (i.e., "what works?"), including structural measures, on mental health and wellbeing in the population. For this purpose, national register data, large scale health surveys, geo data and similar will be used. By using advanced statistical methods, the project will aim to (1) provide an overview of interventions and measures implemented in the municipal, regional or national context; (2) provide insights into their impact on mental health, wellbeing and drug use; and (3) examine social and geographical gradients.
