Manages the operation of one or more designated vessels and leads the Vessel Management Team (VMT). The VMT includes dedicated seismic and maritime team members both onshore and offshore. The VMT is accountable for all aspects of vessel operations including HSEQ, crew logistics, technical support and VMT coordination with PGS Project Managers and clients. The Vessel Manager reports to the Acquisition Manager.
The Vessel Manager's responsibilities as the leader of the VMT include survey execution, HSEQ, client contact, technical performance, data quality and the overall financial performance of the vessel.
Main Tasks:
- Ensure that all operations on assigned vessel(s) are run in a safe manner, in accordance with the PGS HSEQ policy, best practices, the PGS Core Values and in line with HSE requirements set forth by the client.
- Ensure that safety matters are reported, followed up upon, and all incident reports are closed out in accordance with the procedures.
- In accordance with procedure, safeguard that all major safety, security and operational aspects related to upcoming surveys are risk assessed.
- Ensure adequate and efficient communication with OTS and Maritime team members for the vessel(s) and their crews.
- In close cooperation with the Project Manager (PM) and VMT follow up on the Project Term Sheet
- Ensure adequate communication and coordination in VMT on all operational matters.
- Ensure that the cost/benefit aspects of the operational decisions are thoroughly evaluated and cost efficient operation of assigned vessels.
- Manage third parties assigned to projects.
- Manage the planning and follow up surveys including risk assessments, client contacts and preparation/approval of all Project related documents.
- Follow up logistics deliverables from and to the vessel.
Qualifications:
Bachelors or Master’s degree in a relevant field. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the formal education requirement.
Minimum 5 years technical/operational experience with marine seismic acquisition, and preferably a minimum of 3 years with PGS

Other:
- Though the position is office based, travel, often on short notice, is required. This includes traveling to and on board seismic vessels.
- Valid Passport and permission to work in specific countries is necessary.
- Good verbal and written English communication skills.
- Good physical fitness and health (traveling to vessels require a medical certificate and Basic Offshore Sea Survival training).
