Operations Geologist - Aker BP ASA AKER BP

We are looking for senior operations geologist, operations geologist and graduates.

The objective of the role is to participate as geologist with operations geology knowledge in the planning, operational and post operational work of drilling a well. Issues should be identified and, where possible, anticipated and positively managed to ensure that all interest groups are able to meet their objectives The position will act as liaise between Exploration/Subsurface group and the Drilling organization in all phases of the drilling of a well, bringing people together and making sure that issues are dealt with and objectives achieved.
A key area is to supervise subsurface personnel at the well site e.g. well site geologists during drilling of the well.

You will work closely between Subsurface and Drilling Teams and reporting to Operational Engineering Manager.

Job description

• Provide support to the subsurface and drilling teams during all phases of drilling operations, supervising and supporting the well site teams through drilling operations.
• QC of morning geologic reports and geological well data.
• Accountable for providing and presenting subsurface drilling hazard assessments and geological programs at pre-spud meetings as well as facilitating both ad-hoc and routine office operations meetings.
• Providing up to date analysis of integrated geological data, as well as ensuring transfer of all well data to the office databases, partners and authorities as required.
• Holding regular service quality review meetings with service providers and contractors to drive improvement, ensure issue close out and propagate lessons learned" understanding throughout our operations.
• Responsible for leading the permitting process in regards to the authority submittals and co-ordinating well evaluation processes with the sub surface & drilling teams.
• Solid pore pressure prediction and detection skills are beneficial.
• One candidate will start supporting one of our rigs at Valhall and one will start support Transocean Artic which currently is drilling in the Alveheim area. Over time there will be an opportunity to move between our many rigs and gain experience from everything from Exploration drilling to P&A operations

Qualifications

• Geology and/or Petroleum subjects.
• University Geology Degree.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience forsenior positions,
• Additional education in computer science would be favourable.
