Speaking of moving fast - we've got a great new product idea that we want to get into production early next year, and we're looking for a commercially-minded UX Designer with a bias for action to get it there. Someone who can quickly get up to speed with the customer requirements and work with a cross-functional team to deliver the solution. Collaborate with the Product Manager to conceive and design a brand new product Conduct and analyze customer research and inform design decisions Data-driven rapid iteration, based on testing and customer feedback Use a complete range of fidelity to support decision-making including sketches, user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes Independently conduct concept and "hallway usability" tests to gather rapid feedback Create and maintain guidance and patterns which developers can independently use to implement common screens and flows while you focus on new features and unusual use cases Nail the big picture flows, architecture and navigation as well as the microinteractions of animations, loading states and transitions Develop and maintain a deep understanding of and empathy for our customers We're looking for: Minimum 3-5 years prior experience in SaaS product design Strong portfolio of product design, interaction design and visual design for mobile/web applications Experience with complex data-driven applications where you've made tasks feel easy and approachable User research and testing experience with tools such as UTest or UserTesting.com, designing and analyzing A/B tests, usability audits, picking up the phone or observing a user. Experience prototyping in Figma Experience working with developers deploying frequently and having the discretion to judge what is good enough to ship and iterate rather than wait for a perfect release Phocas is an Accredited Employer and usually a strong supporter of international talent, but due to current immigration settings and processing times, we can only consider applicants with current NZ working rights for this position.

Role & responsibilities Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for user interfaces across multiple platforms. Design user interfaces that are both visually appealing and intuitive, enhancing the overall user experience. Collaborate closely with game designers and artists to ensure that the UI complements the game's vision and art style. Continuously iterate on designs based on user feedback and play testing outcomes. Ensure UI designs are responsive and accessible on various devices. Create and maintain design documentation, including UI specifications, style guides, and design patterns. Stay informed about the latest industry trends and best practices in UI/UX design for video games. Preferred candidate profile A minimum of 3 years of experience as a UI/UX Designer in the gaming industry. A strong portfolio demonstrating UI/UX design skills and experience in video games. Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, or Figma. Experience with user research and usability testing. A strong understanding of interaction design principles and best practices. Up-to-date knowledge of current UI design trends in video games. Ability to collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team environment. Excellent communication and presentation skills. A passion for video games with a deep understanding of game mechanics and player psychology. Experience with the Unity game engine.
