Legal Counsel/Legal operations support
The key functions of Corporate Legal (LE) are to provide legal advice to Statkraft’s business areas enabling achievement of commercial goals, to manage legal risk throughout the Group’s activities, and to ensure that the business areas conduct their activities in accordance with applicable law and consistent with the overall strategies of the Statkraft Group.
With an ambitious growth strategy towards 2030 and with operations in more than 20 countries we are focused on enhancing our digital solutions to provide efficient and streamlined legal advice across the Statkraft group and to support Legal Company Governance throughout the group.
To strengthen our team, we are now looking for a Legal Counsel based at our headquarters in Oslo to support our digital initiatives and to provide legal support to our business with a particular focus on legal company governance.

Job Description
Working in Corporate Legal
Corporate Legal (LE) is responsible for providing legal advice and legal risk management to the whole Statkraft Group, supporting the Statkraft strategy and business activities globally. The department consists of about 70 employees in Norway, Sweden, UK, Ireland, USA, Germany, Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy, Albania, Turkey, India, Brazil, Chile, and Peru.
The Legal Operations team is part of the Corporate Legal team and currently consists of 4 people, two based in the UK and two in Norway. The Legal Operations team supports the legal teams in 16 countries. The team is headed by Head of Legal Operations in Oslo and works on various initiatives to support the legal function to work more efficiently and streamlined. The team is responsible for various standardization, automation, and digitalization initiatives. The Legal Operations team also supports legal company governance for Statkraft’s more than 500 legal entities across the globe.
The Legal Counsel will report to the Head of Legal Operations but will also be working closely with the team Legal Norway and provide legal advice and risk management supporting to the business activities in Norway.
As part of this role, you will have the following main responsibilities:
- Support the strategic planning and the development and implementation of digital initiatives to address process and efficiency issues for the global legal team, with the aim to simplify and reduce lawyers' workload and support the legal requirements of the wider business.
- Support the development of internal policies, processes and templates needed to ensure a good company governance.
- Deliver high quality legal advice to the Statkraft business and support functions, having a thorough understanding of the business, relevant markets, the company and its organisation, objectives, and strategies.
- Drafting, reviewing, and participating in negotiations of contracts.
- Proactively identify and recommend measures to deal with legal risks related to the matter at hand and legal risks affecting the Statkraft Group as a whole.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsels.
Qualifications
About you:
Competence and experience:
- Excellent degree in Norwegian law
- 2-3 years of experience from top tier law firms, in-house or similar relevant experience
- Good knowledge of company law, contract law, and other relevant areas of law
- Good technical insight
- Substantial interest with some business knowledge of the energy sector
- High proficiency in written and spoken Norwegian and English is a requirement

- A self-aware, self-confident individual who is proactive in identifying areas of need, generating action plans, and able to adapt to changing priorities and business needs
- Efficient, structured, independent, and solution-oriented, with high personal integrity and ethical standards

Statkraft manages critical infrastructure and services in several countries. The applicant must be eligible for security clearance and authorisation.
