Kvaerner is a market leader in the Norwegian oil and gas market and is now preparing for new projects. The Structural & Marine Department in Kvaerner is primarily working with Structural Fabrication Engineering and Marine Design Engineering.
The Structural & Marine Department has a team of 17 experienced Marine and Structural Engineers covering Marine design, Marine analysis and Marine fabrication engineering for offshore and onshore installations. The team is also involved in studies and tenders. Our intention is to strengthen the Marine discipline for participation in Kværner's major projects, nationally and internationally.
We are looking for an Engineer Marine/Structural Engineer, analysis and calculations, with experience from oil and gas industry. The employee is expected to take different roles in projects, such as Discipline Lead, Group lead and Engineer, depending on the workload on the department.
Work place is Stord. Travel may be required.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
Responsible for the discipline's deliveries and that these are according to agreed quality, schedules and governing documents in the project
Responsible for correct manpower with regards to numbers and competence.Leadership of the discipline in the project, leadership of the personnel, reporting progress and results. Having focus on Health, Safety and environmental (HSE), well-being and efficiency
Responsible for the detail schedules within the discipline, ensuring that these are according to the projects governing network schedules
Responsible for that the disciplines scope of work is known and continuously implemented in the network and detail schedules
Contribute so that the corporate/department/discipline governing documentation is updated with experience/lessons learnt from on-going projects
Arrange customerand supplier meetings
At project start-up and project completion ensure experience transfer and report experience. This is to be done in cooperation with engineering lead and department lead
Be active with regards to introducing efficiency improvements
Operation management for marine operations
Prepare and conduct yard facility adaptions which are necessary to perform marine operations
Prepare methods for transport and lifting of heavy units. Assisting construction through transport and lifting operations
Perform calculations for transports and heavy lifts, documenting capacities of permanent and temporary steel. Perform calculations manually or by using computer programs
Qualifications:
Bachelor-/Master Degree, with relevant competency
Theoretical knowledge and understanding of structural analysis and calculation, hydrostatic stability and hydrodynamics
Minimum 10 years relevant working experience in oil and gas industry
Leadership experience
Knowledge of applicable project documents, standards and codes
Knowledge of how to use computer programs like Staad-Pro, Sesam, StruProg and Mathcad
Good common knowledge towards other departments and with external parties in marine operations
Good knowledge to 3D/2D DAK-systems, technical registers and planning systems
General good knowledge to basic computing
Extensive ability to cooperate both within the department, with other departments and with external parties in marine operations
Fluent in written and spoken English
Be independent, flexible and able to adjust to different work assignments and demands
New educated candidates without practical experience are also encouraged to apply.
