About the job

(IEL) at the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Energy, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), invites applications for an associate professor/ professor/ in . The main responsibility of the position will be research and teaching within high voltage cable technology related to both design and application.

The IEL has a vision to be at the centre of the digital green shift. Cable technology plays a crucial role in electrification both onshore and offshore and is the backbone of both the present and the future HVAC and HVDC power grid. Development of cable materials and design requires deep insight in dielectric properties and ageing mechanisms as well as mechanical and thermal aspects. Norway utilities and oil companies are also large end users of cable technology spanning from power supplies in urban areas, fjord and lake crossings, via offshore subsea power supply, to new development areas in offshore wind.

For the successful applicant, this represents an opportunity to participate in developing an interdisciplinary research field to accelerate the digital green shift. The position is of strategic importance for the Department of Electric Energy, and the ability of the candidate to contribute to the Department's strategy in this regard will strongly influence the selection process.
